Keratinocyte cancers are exceedingly common and exact an enormous toll in susceptible populations around the world. The burden on health systems from diagnosing and treating these cancers is growing. Fortunately, we live in an exciting era with many new discoveries. New information about genetic determinants of risk, molecular drivers of tumour development and metastasis, and the immunobiology of tumours and precancerous lesions is reshaping the way skin cancer patients can be managed. New diagnostic and staging technologies offer greater precision to optimise patient care, and new therapeutic options abound. At the Global Advances and Controversies in Skin Cancer 2024, convening in Brisbane, Australia, a world class Invited Faculty will showcase the latest developments in detection, diagnosis, staging and treatment of keratinocyte cancers and other cancers of the skin. Topics will encompass epidemiology, genetics, clinical and pathological diagnosis, chemoprevention, surgery, and radiation and systemic therapies. Panel discussions and case-studies will encourage audience input, and current controversies in patient care will be debated in a collegial atmosphere. Free papers from conference participants are strongly encouraged, and will promote the work of the next generation of clinicians, scientists, nurses, and policy-makers.

GAC-SC 2024 promises to be a vibrant and exciting forum at the heart of Brisbane’s enchanting South-Bank precinct where social events will enhance the global network of colleagues interested in skin cancer. We look forward to seeing you among us in Sept 2024.

The Global Advances and Controversies in Skin Cancer 2024 is convened by the Australian Skin and Skin Cancer Research Centre, a joint initiative of The University of Queensland and the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute.
